A uCLA Experiment

When Vienna was born, we got a letter in the mail from UCLA letting us know they are doing a linguistic experiment for babies in a multi-lingual household.

We signed up since it would be cool to be a part of science and she could see herself in UCLA at such a young age!

Study Description
In the listening task, Vienna will be seated on your lap in a booth that has three lights, one in front, and two on either side. We use the lights to get her attention, and Vienna will turn her head. Once she is looking to one side, we play a sound sample. Vienna will listen until she gets bored, and when she does, she will turn away. We measure how long she looks. When she turns away, we attract her attention to the other side of the booth and play another sound file. We do this multiple times.

You can see in the video she does an amazing job looking both ways and being attracted to the sounds. We were nervous because she just woke up from a nap. It was really quick and she got a certificate and a UCLA bib!
